1 John 4:16
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
Today I had an opportunity to reflect on the season. It was brief but much needed. Think about what’s happening around you and if this describes what the season means to you.
I’ve noticed when talking about the holidays, most people mention gifts and having to buy things for people. Hosting or organizing an event. Then comes the question of finances. Although it’s a “tight time” in the year, there’s almost a feeling of obligation to buy gifts.
The tone of the conversation is mostly about buying things. The stresses that come with buying things and giving up things in life to satisfy someone or others with gifts…
As I drive by the mall, I wonder who is falling into the idea that the season is about possession and the act of buying something.
The season isn’t about giving gifts. But cherishing memories with loved ones. Creating invaluable memories that we will carry with us.
Nowadays there is so much to keep us busy, time passes by so quickly. It’s almost as if there is no time to get sick, to recover from lack of sleep, to get things done that used to happen regularly with no stress. The days feel shorter.
Don’t waste the borrowed time we have. Nothing is guaranteed in this life.
